‘PRIZING’ THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY: SCOTLAND’S DIVERSITY AWARDS

Have you heard of ‘Scotland’s Diversity Awards’? it’s a wonderful initiative that took place last year for the very first time and that will be celebrated again in 2017!

These awards, delivered by The Herald and GenAnalytics, in association with Bank of Scotland, aim to recognise the outstanding success of companies, organisations, individuals, third sector organisations and community groups who demonstrate a strong commitment and track record of achievement in ensuring that everyone in our society has the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions, aspirations and potential.

The successful 2016 Diversity Awards, celebrated on the 13th October 2016, showcased and recognised best practice from those organisations and individuals who are working to address these challenges and who are developing and delivering programmes and initiatives with demonstrable success.

Some of the winners in last October’s ceremony were the Celtic FC Foundation, as Best Community Project; Dr Charlotte McCarroll, as Diversity Hero of the Year; or the Ayrshire College, as Best Diversity Marketing and Social Issues Campaign.

As the organisers state, “diversity has never been more important to our businesses, our economy and our society. For Scotland to realise its potential, we need to ensure companies and organisations involve the abilities of all the talents.”

“We are well placed to demonstrate and share our existing commitment to diversity and equality in the workplace, in our communities and our society.”

The Diversity Awards 2017 will take place on Thursday, October 12, at The Radisson Hotel in Glasgow.

Aberdeen Mela totally supports this vision of Scotland and this effort to recognise and promote the people working for equality and diversity in our country.

And of course, Aberdeen Mela, on 30th July at Westburn Park, will be an amazing opportunity to embrace the rich and valuable diversity of Aberdeen and Scotland that we hope you won’t miss!

See you all there!
